In 2022, I almost clicked through a phishing email impersonating HubSpot support. The sender domain was off by one character. I caught it about three seconds before I would have handed over my credentials. After that, I took password management seriously: actual seriously, not "I should probably do this someday" seriously.

I've run paid trials of 1Password, Bitwarden, Dashlane, and RoboForm, around $200 total across subscriptions, and helped migrate a ten-person marketing team through two vault switches. Both migrations surfaced the same problem: everything online about password managers covers features and pricing. Almost nothing covers the actual switch cost: which imports break, which browser extensions don't survive, which shared vault configurations require admin setup nobody documented. I kept notes because I had to.
